So this is my entry for

's contest. Since it's about inspiration from music, I just had to do it! Keane is my all-time favorite band, so I chose to use a song from them. I went to their concert a couple months ago, and when they played this song, they dedicated it to a crew member that died a couple weeks before. Knowing this, I wanted to make a more calm and sad piece to fit the reaction of the crowd when they heard it. I seriously tear up every time I hear this song.

About the picture- My character, Written River, is taking Flidais down a swampy path to a place for souls to rest, but is hesitant to do so. He knows that Equestria needs and loves her, and without her, that special spec of light in the world will vanish. River believes that everypony will hate him for bringing the magic of nature to an end, but he locks his mind away and keeps on flying. Flidais knows that if Death wants to claim her, she cannot fight and must give in, so she uses the last of her magic to put a spell of protection over all things living. How depressing ;n;

But anywho, this has to be my best deviation by far! I originally wasn't going to shade it *cough*washorribleatshading*cough*, but the more I tried, the more fun it became. So I've finally found a new shading syle I like, so maybe I'll shade more pictures. Tell me what you guys think! ^u^
